The monitoring program ‘Miljøgifter i Bydyr’ (MILBY) will give information about levels of selected environmental toxins in land-dwelling animals from the terrestrial environment in Oslo. The program includes sampling, analysis of environmental toxins in selected tissues and reporting of the resulting data. A more detailed description of the assignment is given in Annex 3: Work scope.

The overall purpose of this programme is to obtain knowledge about environmental toxins in the air and precipitation that are transported to Norway in the atmosphere. The monitoring will, where possible, give information about geographic differences in the environmental toxin levels. Combined, this is important knowledge that form the basis for reporting to international conventions, programs and networks.

The Agency for Urban Environment owns eight measuring stations for local air quality. Seven of these are included in this procurement: Alnabru, Bryn School, Bygdøy allé, Kirkeveien, Skøyen, Sofienbergparken and Vahl School. In addition, there are two stations that are being procured/established: Centre and Bjørvika. The measuring stations are operated year round.
