Project E6 the Sørfold tunnels have started to plan a new E6 between Megården and Mørsvikbotn in Sørfold municipality in Nordland. The planning is in accordance with 3 alternative road concepts, which are described in the KVU Fauske-Mørsvikbotn. 1 of the road concepts (concept 3) involves a crossing of Leirfjorden in Sørfold municipality with a suspension bridge with a span of 740-800 m.
