This tender applies to coastal gliders for subsurface observations of essential ocean variables (physical oceanography and biogeochemical measurements). Under the strategic initiative Coast-Risk / Coastwatch – the Norwegian Coastal Observing System of Systems two ocean gliders equipped with sensors for physical, biological and biogeochemical measurements will be acquired. 2020-02-1919/03086 Coastal Gliders for Water Column Observations — Stage 1 (Havforskningsinstituttet)
The contract includes the delivery of gliders for water column observations near the coast. The gliders must have sensors for measuring central variables for seawater (physical and biochemical variables).
The procurement is related to the Institute of Marine Research's strategic project Coast-Risk as well as further development of the co-operation project for the coastal observation infrastructure referred to as Coastwatch — the Norwegian Coastal Observing System of Systems.

The desires light sensors are, according to the client's knowledge, not developed or possible to purchase as a finished product or off the shelf. Therefore the clients wants to purchase light sensors that are developed by a supplier to meet our requirements.
