National tests have been carried out annually since 2004 on approximately 180 000 pupils in the 5, 8 and 9 years. The aim of the tests is to assess and develop pupils' skills in maths, reading and English. All levels from teachers to national authorities use the results from the national tests for quality development of primary and secondary education.
