Internet-based Competence Package for Nursery School Environments

In order to support competence development in nursery school environments, Utdanningsdirektoratet [the Norwegian Directorate of Education and Training] will develop a competence package that can be used in nursery school based competence development. The competence package will be internet-based and be located at kompetanse.udir.no. A competence package in this connection is a collection of content elements/modules presented as a structured development course. The competence package will be offered with a log-in solution and will be available to all. Nursery school owners and nursery school managers will decide if the nursery school will use the competence package, and will be responsible for organising the competence development work. The nursery schools are based on their development need and the competence package can be used in regional schemes. The specialist environments collaborating with and supporting the nursery school owners and nursery schools in their long-term development work can use the content in the competence package as a starting point for dialogue and possible guidance.

The competence package will support collective professional development in the nursery school and simultaneously provide possibility for individual participants. After implementation, the nursery school owner, managers and employees will have strengthened their competence in creating and maintaining a safe and good nursery school environment, and prevent, detect and handle bullying and other violations. The competence package will also contribute to strengthening the nursery school owners’ role as responsible for competence development and for the nursery school environment. In the work with nursery school environment, the nursery school will in some circumstances need to collaborate with services and actors outside of the nursery school, for example such as health centres, Educational and Psychology Services, the Norwegian Centre for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Child Welfare Authorities. It is therefore important that the competence package stimulates cross-sector collaboration.

Beskrivelse av opsjoner:
The Directorate also wants to have a contract option for any in-depth modules for other relevant target groups in the work with nursery school environment, for example, the Educational and Psychology Services and the Public Health Centre service.
The Norwegian Directorate of Education and Training will decide use the option by 1 July 2024. We anticipate the value of the options will be up to NOK 1.5 million excluding VAT.
