The velodrome will be a part of ‘Folkehallene’ (the public halls) and it will complete the development of 4 multi-purpose halls in Sola, Sandnes, Stavanger and Randaberg municipalities. The velodrome shall have UCI 2 classification and it shall be able to hold major championships for both juniors and seniors. The velodrome will be the first indoor velodrome in Norway that has been built since the world championships in Oslo in 1993 and will, after completion, be the only indoor 250 m competition velodrome in Norway.

The velodrome will be the first indoor velodrome in Norway that has been built since the world championships in Oslo in 1993 and will, after completion, be the only indoor 250 m competition velodrome in Norway.

The project limit is 200 000 000 NOK excluding VAT for the entire building, including the cycle track. The costs for the cycle track are estimated to be approx. 10 000 000 — 12 000 000 NOK excluding VAT. The building is planned with 2 parallel turnkey contracts, 1 for the actual track and 1 for everything else, constructional and technical. In addition there will be a contract delivered by Sola municipality for infrastructure such as water and sewage, roads and outdoor installations. This procurement is for a turnkey contract for the cycle track. The competition includes both the design and execution, based on the contracting authority's function description.
