An assignment is announced for a national evaluation of the before-and-after-school care scheme (SFO). In Oslo and other places SFO is called the Activity School, AKS. The evaluation shall include an assessment of different quality aims for SFO, such as organisation, competence, content and user satisfaction. The evaluation shall highlight how the scope in the current education act is understood and used locally in SFO.
The evaluation shall cover SFO for pupils in the 1st—4th years and SFO for pupils with special needs in the 1st—7th years. The evaluation will contribute to a knowledge basis for any further follow-up in the form of a parliamentary white paper.

General information on SFO
All municipalities shall have an offer of before-and-after-school care for 1st—4th years and for children with special needs in the 1st—7th years. SFO shall facilitate play, culture, leisure activities based on the age, function level and interests of the children. SFO shall give children care and supervision, but it is not a part of primary school education, even if some of the education act's rule apply to it. The municipality can require that the expenses for the before-and-after-school care are covered by the parents. The Articles of Association for municipal SFO offers are to be seen as regulations.
