Jernbaneverket will procure a new Signalling System based on the ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management) standard. This will include the following:
a) Renewal of the existing signalling systems;
b) Delivery of signalling systems to completely renovated lines and new lines;
c) Delivery of certain components (early deliverables) to be used in combination with the existing signalling systems before ERTMS deployment on the current line.
The goal is to renew the existing signalling systems on the Norwegian railway network within 2030. Delivery of signalling system to completely renovated lines and new lines will for example be InterCity lines and Ringeriksbanen.
The overall objective is to establish a homogenous, reliable and cost-effective signalling system according to the ERTMS standards throughout the Norwegian railway network. The introduction of ERTMSs shall be done with as little impact on the railway operations as technically and economically possible.
The contract includes a Signalling System that comprises, but is not limited to, interlocking, ERTMS components and all affiliated track-side deliveries.
The Signalling System shall be able to handle all the different railway network topologies present in Norway, from, for example, but not limited to, single track lines with small to minor station layouts, to lines with several tracks and large complex station layouts. Most of the Norwegian railway network consists of single track lines and passing and crossing loops.
