Fv 50 The Geiterygg tunnel. Renovation. Rock works

The Geiterygg tunnel at Fv50 in Hol municipality is subject to renovation and upgrading. This contract includes execution of rock works in relation to this. The length of the tunnel is 3, 3 km and especially “power plant cross-section” with 7 m from wall to wall.
Subsequent to expansion/back ripping executed in 1985/86, the tunnel has some larger cross section in each end, but in this zone only works in relation to drain/surface water and guideways for electrical installations/electronic communication shall be executed. The tunnel is cleared of a considerable amount of water and frost protection boards. Average annual daily traffic is approx 350 vehicles/day and night.
The tunnel shall be upgraded with new emergency niches and a turnaround niche, and shall be prepared for upgrading of electro installations by blasting stolls for new technical buildings. The tunnel cross section shall in principle be kept as it is, but with a possible back-ripping of humps and sections where it is tight for the new water and frost protection and new equipment.
The works will mainly comprise:
- Blasting of 3 new emergency niches.
- Blasting of a turnaround niche in combination with room for new technical building situated approximately in the middle of the tunnel.
- Blasting of 2 stolls for two new technical buildings in connection with two of the emergency niches mentioned above.
- Blasting/spiking of niches in tunnel wall for emergency station cabinet.
- Rock securing with bolts, net and shotcrete in new rock rooms.
- Crowbar clearing of the tunnel,
- Rock securing with bolts and net in the existing tunnel.
- Water and frost protection “on humps” partly in new rock rooms and partly in cleared tunnel.
- Dismounting and re-installation of electrical installations influenced by the works.
