National module for electronic structured reporting within anatomical pathology to health trusts in Norway

Sykehusinnkjøp HF

The Norwegian Hospital Procurement Trust [Sykehusinnkjøp HF] and the Western Norway Regional Health Authority ICT AS [Helse Vest IKT AS] will, on behalf of the health authorities in Norway, procure a national solution for electronic structured reporting within anatomical pathology.
The solution will be closely integrated with the laboratory information systems (LIMS) and shall primarily consist of a module that enables electronic structured reporting based on data from LIMS. The solution must also have an integrated template management system. Furthermore, all reporting should be stored in LIMS, and not in the reporting system. The system will be operated by the Norwegian Health Network SF [Norsk Helsenett SF].

The Contracting Authority will enter into an SSA-T (Development and Adaptation Contract) and SSA-V (Maintenance Agreement) with one tenderer based on the Government's standard contracts for ICT procurements.

One of the main goals behind establishing digital pathology at the national level is to establish shared standards and formats, including an infrastructure that can link the different regional health authorities. A future goal is for all pathology departments to use national standards for electronic structured reporting in anatomical pathology. National templates for reporting will be implemented so that appropriate information is collected as structured reporting and so the use of coding is in accordance with the recommended national standards. Currently, there is no national system that ensures a shared approach to structured reporting across the regional health authorities. Furthermore, there are different levels of capability for structured reporting and template management in the laboratory information systems (LIMS) implemented in the regions.

To support this goal, Sykehusinnkjøp HF and Helse Vest IKT AS will procure a national system for electronic structured reporting within anatomical pathology on behalf of the health trusts in Norway.
