The Geophysical Institute intends to acquire three to four (3-4) ocean gliders for use in the Nordic seas and the Fram Strait, primarily from the east Greenland shelf break, across the Greenland continental slope, and into the deep Greenland and Iceland basins. The gliders will operate along repeat transects throughout the year and contribute to the monitoring of the hydrography and circulation of the Nordic Seas, by sampling the temperature and salinity structure through standard CTD sensors and inferred ocean currents from depth-averaged currents and hydrography. Extensive mission lengths of up to one year duration (at least ten months), with flexible sampling schemes are planned. For more information see Appendix 01.

Justification for cancellation
The procurement section believes that there are justifiable reasons to cancel the contest 'ANSK-0275-19 Deep Ocean Glider for endurance missions'. The justification is that there are uncertainties in the tender documentation as the depth description is stated in a way that can lead to misunderstandings. Chapter 1 in 'Appendix 1 Buyer’s requirement specification' includes formulations that can give the impression that we request ocean gliders with a depth capacity down to 4 000 m, whilst the reality is that there is no need for a depth capacity of more than 1 000 m. There is a reason to believe that the uncertainties have lead to potential suppliers not submitting a tender in this contest. The error can, therefore, only be redressed by cancelling the contest and announcing a new contest.
