Content Elements in an Online Based Competency Package for Technology, Programming and Algorithmic Thought Processes

The curriculum must contribute to strengthening the technology training, and the programming and algorithmic thought processes must be part of multiple subjects. This will be new areas in many of the subjects.
There is reason to assume that there is a need to increase the teachers' subject didactic competence in technology, programming and algorithmic thinking in order to ensure a good training offer in subjects that get this into the curriculum in connection with subject renewal.
As a measure to mobilise competency development in the area, the Utdanningsdirektoratet [the Norwegian Directorate of Education and Training] will develop a competency package that has both an interdisciplinary facility and a subject didactic focus (particularly concerns the following subjects: mathematics, science, art and crafts, and music). The target group for the competency package will be teachers of 1 to 10 years.

The content in the competency package must correspond with the requirements for education according to the new curriculum for subjects from 2020, and could be included as part of the competency raising measures in the grant scheme in the technological school bag.

We define a competency package as a collection of content elements/modules presented as a structured development cycle. Parts of this competency package will be directed to the entire school, while other parts will be directed to subject teachers in mathematics, science, art and crafts and music. The competency package will be offered with a log-in solution, and it must be able to be combined with support from competence centres with subject-relevant expertise.
