The objective of the project County Road 311 Presterødbakken and the junction is geographically located to the east of Tønsberg centre between the existing roundabouts County Road 311 at Kilden and at Olsrød. The existing County Road 311 is, on the stretch, a 2 lane system with a foot and cycle path on the north side of County Road 311. County Road 311 is to be altered to a 4 lane system with a separate cycle path and pavement on the stretch between Kilden and Presterød. A roundabout is to be established at Presterød and a new foot and cycle path on the south side of County Road 311 between Presterød and Olsrød. The existing foot and cycle path on the north side of County Road 311 will, on the same stretch, be upgraded with separate routes for a cycle path and a pavement.

Parts of the area in Presterødbakken have quick clay in the ground and ground reinforcement work must be carried out with the establishment of super-light matter/EPS filling in the superstructure for County Road 311 and the foot and cycle path.

2 driving lanes are required to be maintained on County Road 311 throughout the site area during the entire construction period. A foot and cycle path system shall also be maintained throughout the entire construction period. District heating installations are to be established and a municipal water pipeline will be engineered as part of the assignment.
