The service provider shall perform the following assignments:

- In dialogue with NIKU, plan field work for the prioritised locations. We have a long wish list but have tight economic and time limits for the project. Therefore the tender has been set up so that different locations are defined as options, which we can trigger later. The options shall be included in the submitted tender offer for the defined project period from 2018 to 2022.

- NIKU will perform the necessary archaeological documentation and condition evaluation of the layers prior to sampling. Sufficient time must be allocated for the field work. This applies to all locations, drilling and soil layer profiles.

- Drilling of drill holes.

- Any machine excavation of profiles.

- In connection with drilling/excavation work: collect the necessary permissions and perform cable detection.

- Installation of environment wells with multi-probes for monitoring in groundwater. Probes should as a minimum measure the water level, groundwater pressure, temperature, pH, oxygen, oxidation-reduction conditions and conductivity.

- Installation of monitoring probes in profiles. Probes should as a minimum measure temperature, water content, pH, oxidation-reduction conditions and/or oxygen. At least one location requires oxygen probes.

- Deliver data logging suitable for the equipment.

- Deliver data to the system indicated by NIKU.

- Securing and labelling of installed equipment.

- Follow-up and maintenance of equipment.

- Water chemical analysis for the assessment of preservation conditions in accordance with NS9451.

- Geochemical and geophysical analysis for assessment of preservation conditions in accordance with NS9451.

- Reporting in cooperation with NIKU according to NIKU’s template (joint report). A report after installation of equipment6, annual status reports for each location and a 5-year report that summarises all measurement results and interpretation of consequences for preservation conditions.

- Participation in scientific presentations and/or publication of data in dialogue with NIKU and the Directorate for Cultural Heritage.
