The results achieved through the procurement of the described equipment will be used to set up modular liquid handling systems that have analytical abilities. The instruments will be used to automate the generation of liquid that includes chemicals and/or micro-organisms. Analytical modules with interface with the liquid handling system can monitor the concentration of protons (pH), oxygen and CO from fluids. In addition the instruments will also be used to automate molecular biological procedures, e.g. DNA extraction. Interface between analytical liquid handling modules and analytical modules is an important function that will use activated automation procedures. The instruments ought, therefore, give available options for connection and automation.
