ASD wants to evaluate the effects of discontinuing a long period of daily unemployment benefit to elderly persons. The assignment involves evaluating the effects of changes in the special rules in national insurance for recipients of daily unemployment benefit for job seekers who are 64 or older and to analyse how elderly job seekers adapted after the special rules did not apply anymore. The assignment shall provide knowledge on the effects of changes in the daily unemployment rules for job seekers who are 64 or older and how elderly job seekers adapted before and after the changes in the rules in 2011/2012. We would like, amongst other things, to follow unemployment and adaptations before, during and after the reform as regards elderly job seekers' labour market status and the receipt of public benefits. The project ought to follow recipients of daily unemployment benefit who were aged 62-67 before and after the change in 2011/2012, e.g. in the years 2000-2015. We are particularly concerned about the length of unemployment and what statuses the unemployed have when they no longer receive daily unemployment benefit. What did the changes mean for elderly persons who were unemployed before the change, in the transition period and afterwards? A main question is whether more elderly unemployed persons have found employment after the change in the rules, or whether more receive old age or disability pensions, or other benefits, social help or possibly, nothing/family support. To what degree have the changes in the rules contributed to changes in outcome after daily unemployment benefit has been discontinued?
