The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs shall enter into a new four year research and review contract on collective working life. Collective working life deals with our collective or organised working life, with particular focus on the parties — the collective actors — tariff agreements, tariff revisions and work conflicts. Organisations in working life are a central part of Norwegian working life. Wages determination is the parties' responsibility and the tariff agreements are the basic elements in collective working life. The collective actors' role in the labour market, however, stretches far beyond actual wages determination.
The research contract shall contribute to further developing and promoting the knowledge that has been built up in this area, partly by ensuring that the mapping of central activities and development characteristics in collective working life are maintained and further developed, partly by promoting the development of individual projects in relevant theme areas and partly by communicating knowledge of working life organisations and society in general. The activities include, amongst other things, monitoring central indicators such as degrees of organisation, tariff agreement coverage and the extent of work conflicts, as well as maintaining and further developing a tariff agreement archive.
Please refer to Annex 1 to the contract for further description of the assignment.
