Reference number: SA2014 Buldresenter.Short description: design, delivery and construction of a bouldering wall in Sørmarka Arena, Stavanger, Norway.Time schedule: 1.9.2014.Budget: NOK 400 000 to 1 000 000 without VAT.Project description:design, delivery and construction of a bouldering wall up to 4.5 m high that fulfils the requirements for international competition and that is adapted to new beginners and children. It includes the wall, t-nuts, mats, but not the climbing grips.All delivered and installed parts must fulfil the relevant EN standards and specifically: EN 12572:1, 12572:2, and 12572:3.The final design and drawings will be in consultation with Sørmarka Arena (SA) and within the schedule below .None of the permanent climbing structure will come further out than 4 metres from the inside of the south west facadeThe bouldering wall:The bouldering wall will include approx.1) 60 % of the area suitable for international competition (30 lineal meter);2) 20 % of the area suitable for new beginners (not steeper than 15 degrees over vertical);3) 20 % of the area suitable for children (vertical and below vertical).Approx. one fifth of the wall will have "top-out" options.The bouldering wall will maximize the climbing area and keep an overview from the stairs to the toilet area.SA would like to use large volumes for variation in the wall, so we envisage large, flat shapes. There should be good transitions between wall sections so that there are no sharp edges that limit how difficult the problems can be on the steeper parts of the wall.We would like the area for children to be nearest the access stairs, the area for new beginners to be to the left of this and the area for experts to be to the left again towards the toilets.A sample of T-nuts that will be used on the bouldering wall shall be included with the tender (or presented at the site survey).The wall colour and/or pattern shall be decided in consultation with SA.The wall plates shall be textured and a sample shall be included with the tender (or presented at the site survey).Mats:Will be delivered in a shape that allows all mats that come further out than 4 metres from the inside of the south west facade to be easily moved and stored.The mats will come out to 50 cm from the railings (at the edge of the mezzanine). The idea is that the mezzanine is eventually extended an extra 4 metresThe mats shall allow for the installation of up to 2 bouldering mushrooms at a later date with a floor area of 8-12 m2 each. This shall be around the children's/new beginner's area.The mats will be a light colour in consultantion with SA.The tender shall describe the hardness of the mats.There shall be a mat free zone at the top of the access stairs that is approx. 1 metre broad, which continues to a mat free zone of approx. 3600 x 3000 mm to the left of the stairs.The reason:Acess to the fuse cupboard, fire hose, toilets and escape route must be maintained.Good access behind the wall is necessary.The structural and supporting ability of the building must be taken into consideration. Further information on this can be provided upon request.Option to install up to 2 bouldering mushrooms at a later date in the zone close to the access stairs/children's/new beginner's zone.The size and shape of the toilets has not yet been decided, but will be approx. 10-15 m2 to the left of the bouldering wall.The construction period:The construction shall be completed by 1.9.2014.The construction shall be carried out with consideration to other construction works in Sørmarka Arena. Other construction works can affect the access to the bouldering wall area and the general access to SA.
