The Økern nursing home consists of a multi-story block and an east and west wing on one floor which is associated with a between building. The block is where the upgrade will be carried out. There are currently no care activities associated within the multi-story block, but the east and west wing are active care facilities. The construction project will be completed, at the latest, by the 1.3.2014. The agency for nursing homes in the municipality of Oslo is the user/lessee of the nursing home. After the completion of the construction period shall the multi-story block be used used as replacement spaces for the Hovseter nursing home which shall be demolished and built up again. Omsorgsbygg Oslo KF shall carry out the upgrading / rehabilitation of the Økern nursing home. The project shall be a part of the ZenN, the Nearly Zero Energy Neighborhoods, which is an EU-project and part of the worlds largest research program's. The project shall also meet the requirements for the low energy class 1 (NS 3701) to receive backing from ENOVA. The aim is to reduce the energy utilisation for the building by 68% to approx. 120 kWh/m annually. In addition, local production of renewable energy shall cover about 10% of the total consumption, through the establishment of Norway's largest solar cell system. The measures that shall be carried out are an upgrade of the multi-story block. The main tasks are defined as follows: exterior renovation of the façade with the replacement of the windows, doors and supplementary insulation including the breaking of the thermal bridges, new drainage and waterproofing of coverings (the outside of the garage), upgrading of the basement and the 1st floor (one nursing home reception, staff changing rooms for employees and meeting room), new lighting systems, upgrading of water supply within the building, ventilation works, telephony and emergency signaling systems, the replacement of elevators and establishing of the solar cell system. A site inspection will be held on Thursday the 25.4.13 at 10.00 o'clock. The meeting point will be at the nursing home, which is located at Økernveien 151.
