National Research Co-ordinator for International Civic and Citizenship Education Study 2016

Utdanningsdirektoratet (the Norwegian Directorate of Education and Training) hereby invites service providers to a contest for the role of National Research Co-ordinator in the IEA study for International Civic and Citizenship Education. IEA is an organisation that conducts comparative trend studies of school systems and outcomes in member countries. IEA collaborates with research co-ordinators in the participating countries.
ICCS is mapping secondary school pupils' democratic engagement and commitment. The study analyses data on student perceptions of democratic values and attitudes, their knowledge and skills and their current and future commitment. The analysis is done on the basis of the school's education about democracy and citizenship, and on the basis of the pupil's home conditions and their lives outside school.
The National Co-ordinator is responsible for quality assurance of the study instruments, data collection and analysis and reporting in their own countries. The data collection with student tests and completion of questionnaires shall be carried out in 2016, with the pilot in 2015 and reporting in 2017/2018. The study was last carried out in 2009, with reports in 2010 and 2011.
