E02 - New secondary power line Rombak-Bjørnfjell

Jernbaneverket shall carry out a project in the coming years that involves the construction and renovation respectively of two power lines in the Narvik area. The project Renewal of the Transmission Line Ofotbanen (FFO) consists of two planned contracts that are close and mutually dependent on each other:
This contract, E02 Establishment of a new secondary power line, is for the construction of a new 22kV-line between Rombak and Bjørnfjell. This line shall supply electricity to the secondary power points along the railway track, for example, points heaters. The line is approx. 15 km long with branching in to the track. The secondary power line is planned to be built with composite masts and with thread FeAl 50 Special. This line must be in place during 2014.
In addition to this contract, separate tender documents will be announced during the first quarter of 2014 for E03 Renewal of the transmission line Ofotbanen. This contract will in principle be for the replacement of steel latticed masts on a power line that goes from Narvik to Bjørnfjell. The secondary power line will go along the same route as the transmission line on the stretch Rombak-Bjørnfjell.
The secondary power line (E02) must in principle be in place before the work on the transmission line (E03) can start. The work will be carried out in partly demanding terrain, and will require extensive use of a helicopter.
