The Norwegian Institute of Public Health, Forensic Biology Department, carries out assignments for the police and judicial system in Norway. The DNA analysis methods are standardised and accredited (ISO 17025). I 2010, the department analyzed approx. 32 000 forensic medicine samples and 8 000 reference samples. In addition the department has a research group that carries out some work with a view of improving methods and developing statistical tools.
The variation in DNA between various individuals is so extensive that it can form the basis for human identification. As a result of more extensive international comparison of DNA profiles, there is a need to expand the European Standard Set of Loci. In order to meet this, the department must implement a new typing kit.
The Norwegian Institute of Public Health is thus announcing an open tender competition for human identification kits (HID-Kits). The estimated volume for the procurement is approx. 340 kits of 100 reactions per annum.
All tenderers can participate in the competition by giving a tender. Negotiations are not allowed in open tender competitions. The tender documents lay down all the terms for the competition.
