The aim of the test with free core time is to, through increased participation in kindergarten, better prepare children for starting school improve the knowledge of the Norwegian language for foreign children and contribute to the sociallisation in general. Another important aim of this test is to increase the parental co-operation and also increase the parental understanding of the importance of the language and participation in social activities.
The evaluation shall give us the knowledge of the effects the free core time in kindergarten has. The evaluation shall comprise the tests for 4 and 5 year olds in Oslo, three year olds in Oslo, and tests in Drammen and Bergen municipalities are not included in this evaluation.
