The Ocean Programme 2025-2027

Norwegian Environment Agency

The Nordic Ocean Programme aims to address the planetary triple crisis, which includes climate change, the loss of biological diversity and pollution, and which has serious consequences for the sea. The programme is anchored in the Nordic Council of Ministers ́s vision 2030 and emphasises the importance of sustainable management and preservation of ocean environments as a part of the goal "A green Nordic area." Under the Nordic Sea Programme, the Nordic Council of Ministers will fund projects with the aim of 1) identifying and developing systems to reduce pollution and thereby protect a marine ecosystem, and 2) increase knowledge that can enable sustainable and ecosystem-based use of ocean areas that take both the environment and society ́s needs into consideration. The projects shall have policy relevance and shall communicate results and possible solutions.

Beskrivelse av anskaffelsen:

The general aim for theme 3 is to reduce and control different types of pollution in order to improve the ecological state of the Nordic oceans. In the period 2025-2027 the Ocean Programme will focus on plastic waste and pollutants associated with plastic pollution. The work will include preventive measures, the identification and elimination of pollution sources and support for recovery work that promotes ecosystem health. The aim is to create a sustainable and clean marine environment that protects both biological diversity and human health. See Annex 1, Contract Draft for further information.

Tittel: Theme 4: Sustainable use and planning of marine areas
Beskrivelse av anskaffelsen:

The overall objective for theme 4 is to promote sustainable and ecosystem based marine area planning through the development of policies and methods that enable sustainable multi-functional use of marine resources while preserving the health of the ecosystems. In the period 2025-2027 the Ocean Programme will focus on nature and climate as a framework for planning/managing marine areas. The projects shall contribute to creating balanced use and distribution of marine areas in collaboration between environment, society and business and to ensure that cooperation across borders and data sharing supports coordinated and sustainable marine management.
