Hovedtrekk ved prosedyren:

The connection Strømsnes – Kjerringholmen is currently operated by the older ferry MF Akkarfjord, and it has proved difficult to bring in modern ferries as a result of the size of current quays and the challenging entrance to Strømsnes.The county wants to replace the quays in order to facilitate larger and more modern ferries. This is done by building 2 new, modern ferry quays at new locations. The old quays shall not be demolished in this contract and the vessel shall go to them during the entire construction period. In the construction period access shall be made to the houses that are located inside the installation area on both ferry leases, as regards residents, sanitation, operation of roads and emergency services. The work must be completed before the new contract is initiated for the operation of the connection, 1 January 2026.
