The FD's underlying departments are currently The Norwegian Defence, the Norwegian Defence Estates Agency, the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency and the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment. As a result of ongoing reorganisations in the sector, new departments can be established during the contract period that will be included in the framework agreement. FD is a government office responsible for the design and implementation of Norwegian security and defence policy. The Ministry is responsible for overall management and control of the subject departments ́ activities. As a part of the executive government, the FD oversees the activities of the underlying agencies.
