Skåningsrud School and Resource Centre is a special school for children with different function challenges. The school building at Skåningsrud is of very bad condition and it decided to move the special school to Haugtun. The existing Haugtun primary school has been closed and the property has been useless from summer 2023. The planned measures include the demolition of both the existing school building and a sports building at Haugtun, and replacing this with a new building adapted to the need for a special school. The new school building is planned to be located southwest on the site and over 2 floors, with a gable roof, erected with primarily wooden structures for supporting constructions, as well as external wood cladding. The Municipal Council has decided that the new building shall be executed with high environmental ambitions and shall therefore be BREEAM GOOD certified.
