The Norwegian Institute of Marine Research (the Contracting Authority) wishes to hire a coastalnot vessel/ringnot vessel for marking and biological sample taking of NVG herring for approx. 20 days. The period is initially November/December, but if there is no herring that overwinters in the fjords then it may be necessary to move to after spawning in April. The contract will be valid for 2 years from 01.01.2025 until and including 31.12.2026, with an option for an extension for two years. The vessel must have a quota for herring for the expedition. The Norwegian Institute of Marine Research reserves the right to inspect the vessel and check the relevant documentation before signing the contract and before the start of the expedition.

Hovedtrekk ved prosedyren:

The Norwegian Institute of Marine Research shall carry out expeditions along the Norwegian coast for marking a significant number of NVG herring and biological sample taking in the above mentioned period, total approx. 20 days per annum. Fjords and coastal areas in Troms are basically relevant areas for marking. However, if the expedition is moved to after spawning in April then it will be in other areas. The actual catch of the herring will take place by using ringnot. During the expedition, the vessel shall have 24 hour operation. This normally involves searching for herring and not throws from approx. 0500 and marking from 0800-2000 on a daily basis. The crew is expected to start catching so that the herring is pumped on board and one is anchored in the marking position and ready for marking, 0800-2000, with duty systems divided between tenants and shipowners ́ personnel for a total of 12 work hours per day.4 of the vessel's crew shall be available at all times to participate in the marking. At night you lie to anchors. The assignment is subject to the necessary financial grants being given to the Contracting Authority.Port for the start and completion of the expedition as agreed. As long as the expedition takes place in fjords and coastal areas in Troms, the expedition starts and ends in Tromsø.In order to take on board and prepare equipment, the vessel must be in the agreed port for a mission start at the latest 08:00 on the day the expedition starts. Meet in accordance with further agreement with the tenant. The number of representatives from the tenant on board will be maximum 4.Bunkers shall not be included in the stated 24 hour rate. The consumption of bunkers shall be given and calculated according to the following estimates for the cruise: •Normal operation, with speed 11 knots: 6 hours/days (25% of the cruise)•On operation without the main motor in progress: 18 hours/days (75% of the expedition) The expeditions are carried out in accordance with the set-up and management of the Contracting Authority. The captain shall instruct the crew that they shall comply with instructions and carry out the work assignments, including rigging of tools and equipment, sample taking and marking, as the expedition leader or the person he authorised may provide, as far as it is compatible with the operation of the vessel. It is the Captain who is responsible for ensuring that the work on board is carried out in a safe way and is responsible for the safety on board and it is a prerequisite that he and the crew find the work properly to carry out.
