Eide and Fræna were merged on 01.01.2020 into Hustadvika Municipality. We are a municipality with approx. 13,500 inhabitants and an area of approx. 508 km2.
Hustadvika is developing, and has a varied and expansive business life, good municipal services, is a safe place to grow up in, and has many options for recreation and cultural activities. This makes us an attractive municipality to live in. In addition we have two towns nearby, Molde in the south and Kristiansund in the north. Hustadvika has a central location for daily commutes to both regions.

The new primary school in Eide will probably be located on plot 164/131, but this will be part of the early phase in the project. The school currently has 208 pupils and 37 employees. Provisional calculations point to a dimensioning for 250 pupils and a total of 40 employees. The new school will probably have a gross area of 3500 m2, excluding the gym hall. The school uses Eidehallen for gym. We expect that the current primary school on the plot will be open during the development period, and that it will be demolished after the new building has been completed.

The following political decision will form the basis for the work (PS 98/2021):
10. School/nursery/growth. Resources for a new primary school in Eide will be included in the budget for 2022 and in the financial plan period. The conditions in Eide primary school are not in line with the other primary schools in the municipality as regards flexibility, universal design, inside climate, and outside area. The school has personnel, management, and parents' working committee that do their best under the current conditions, but they deserve, as do the children, a significantly better school building. We will, therefore, provide resources for planning in 2022/2023, with completion of a new school building in 2025.

A joint solution with an energy centre based on rock heat is being assessed in the review/engineering design services for Eide primary school in 2022/2023, which will cover the need for heating Eide primary school, Eide secondary school, and Eidehallen. The cost of any establishment of such an energy central is expected to be included in the limited that has been set aside of NOK 252,500,000 excluding VAT for the new primary school.
