The project includes the expansion of Nordstrand comprehensive school from U3 to U4 school Moreover, a department shall be established for 19 students with an autistic disorder.
Nordstrand comprehensive school is situated in Nordstrandveien 29 in the Nordstrand district. The building was constructed in 1889. The existing building stock is regulated for conservation, and there shall be a school in operation during the construction period. The new building shall consist in two floors and shall accommodate four classrooms as well as four group rooms, a woodworks workshop, a music room and an autism department which is divided into 3 zones. A basement shall be established containing a changing room area and technical plants The total gross area of the new building is 2,612 m².
The existing building was renovated in 2014 in connection with the conversion from a sixth form college to a temporary comprehensive school. Only work in the woodworks workshop and gym building shall be executed. The woodworks workshop shall be reconstructed to rooms for technology and design subjects, and two windows shall be bricked up in the gym building.
The existing detached building at the site (approx. 95 m²) must be demolished.
