Kort beskrivelse:
The Norwegian Institute of Marine Research will carry out biological sampling of the catches from other boats at the fish processing plants on the coastal stretch Varanger - Helgeland.
The contracting authority would to hire a vessel that can be manoeuvred steadily along exposed coastlines and easily into fish processing plants in tight harbours. According to our experience the vessel must therefore be approx. 16 m - 25 m and have a transit speed of at least 9 knots. One of the mission participants that will participate will have completed a safety course for fishermen, and can be included in the safety crew, if this is relevant for the vessel.

The vessel shall be used to travel from fish processing plant to fish processing plant in the area from Varanger to Helgeland. The vessel will be a means of transport between the fish processing plants on the relevant stretch, be a base with accommodation during the activity, and parts of the work will be carried out on-board. The work on board mainly consists of reading ages with a magnifying glass, and other office work connected to the sampling. The sampling consists of measuring lengths, weighing, and removal of otoliths, genetical samples, etc., and will mainly be carried out at the fish processing plants. Samples are taken from, amongst others, cod, haddock, coalfish, Norway haddock, halibut and Greenland halibut. If it is not possible to take samples from catches of fish with Juksa, the vessel will be used for such fishing for sampling.

The mission will be carried out in 5-6 periods throughout the year, and will have a total scope of approx. 180 days (minimum 150 days) a year in the period. The contracting authority will have an option to extend the contract for 2 years. Most of the missions will start and end in Tromsø, but several trips per year will start and end in either Bodø or Svolvær. The start location of each mission will be agreed in advance, however, when submitting a tender we request that all tenderers base their tender on the table showing the start and finish locations for the various missions/trips.

We reserve the right to change the periods by +/- one week, make adjustments for Easter and to shorten or extend the mission periods by up to 2 days if weather conditions and the desire to cover all of the planned area allows/requires this.
In order to reduce the risk of price swings in fuel and lubricants, the contracting authority will pay for these separately to the 24 hour hire fee. The shipowner knows the vessel best and it the best to know what the vessel consumes of fuel and lubricants, and therefore the best person to take the risk of stating the correct consumption. The shipowners is to state the average (for the entire year, all types of weather) consumption in consumption litres per hour.
