The mission starts and ends in Bergen.
The Institute of Marine Research will measure the amount of sandeel in the Norwegian zone of the North Sea. The mission will start and end in Bergen. The crew is scheduled to be replaced in the middle of the mission at Egersund. The mission will be carried out in the period 18 April - 14 may and will last for 27 days, but with the contracting authority having the right to shorten the mission by up to 3 days.

The vessel must be ready for acoustic calibration in Bergen in the morning of the first mission day. The first day of the mission will be used for a full calibration and preparation of equipment.
The mission is mainly an acoustic trawling mission with echo sounder measurements along defined course lines in the Norwegian sandeel areas of the North Sea. Data will be obtained from echo sounder, ADCP, and sonar. In periods extra time will be spent in selected areas for the collection of acoustic broadband data. In addition, biological sandeel samples will be sampled with a bottom trawl, sandeel scraper, and grab. CTD and plankton samples will also be taken. The contracting authority will bring trawl doors, trawl, CTD, grab, sandeel scraper, and a plankton net. The mission is to be undertaken on fixed course lines in the sandeel areas in the Norwegian zone of the North Sea. There will be trawled acoustic registrations of sandeel, and scraping both day and night for sample taking of fish. In addition, stations with CTD and plankton samples will be carried out at regular intervals in the survey area.

The number of representatives from on board from the contracting authority will be 8-10. The starting and finishing harbour for the mission is Bergen.
Bunkers must be included in the stated day price. Consumption is calculated in accordance with the following estimates for consumption for the mission, in number of days for:
- trawling, 3 knots: 5
- acoustic coverage of transect and in transit, 10 knots: 20
- anchored for crew changes, CTD, goal strength measurements, etc., 0 knots. 2 Emphasis is put on the fact that the operations pattern for bunker consumption is only an estimate based on an equivalent mission and the expected activity. There can be changes to the activity.

The missions will be executed in accordance with the set up and management of the contracting authority. The captain will instruct the crew of the vessel to follow instructions and carry out the work assignments, including rigging of gear and equipment, sampling and tagging, as directed by the mission leader or his representative, as long as this is in-line with the operation of the vessel. The captain will be responsible for ensuring that the work on board is carried out in a safe way and will also be responsible for safety on board. It is a prerequisite that the captain and crew deem that it is safe to carry out the work.
