The National Library of Norway (NB) sends and collects material in order to build up its collection. NB has special shipments of various types of older collections as well as shipping of material such as pallet goods.
The scope of the transport of collections amounts to approx. 800 pallets per year.
The scope varies from year to year, as this depends on whether NB will carry out relocation projects for special collections.

The National Library (NB) moves collections between the locations in Oslo and Mo i Rana, or to and from external institutions, including abroad. In both cases, there is a need for services related to packing, loading, transporting and unloading, and any intermediate storage.

Historical collections include books, manuscripts, journals, film, microfilm, photographic material, different types of audio formats, different types of broadcast material, hard disks and other material owned by the National Library or external partners.

The collections can be up to several hundred years old, and be of great historical value.

The relevant shipping methods could be boxes, plastic boxes, full and half pallets or whole semi-trailers transporting 33 full pallets. Transport must be expected both domestically and abroad.

The tender also includes shipments of pallet goods to the University Libraries, Cinematheques and other domestic institutions, as well as to locations abroad. The pallet shipment also include collection services at other institutions.

The National Library in Rana also sends film for lending on pallets (can also be half pallets) to the Cinematheques in Trondheim, Bergen, Oslo, Kristiansand, Tromsø and possibly other cities. The dispatch and return costs are covered by the National Library. Shipping of pallets to the universities' libraries may stop during the contract period.

The tender also includes shipment of equipment.
