A new four-lane national road will be built from Sør-Tjora to Kontinentalvegen in Sola kommune [Sola Municipality]. This stage is part of the project Transportkorridor Vest [Transport Corridor West] stretching from Sømmevågen to Sundekrossen. From Sømmevågen to Sola school a new four-lane national road is already completed.
This stage starts north of the roundabout at Sola school and finished north of the roundabout at Tanangervegen/Kontinentalvegen. In addition to the national road footpaths and cycle lanes, local roads and collector roads will also be constructed.
The project is part of Bymiljøpakken [the Urban Environment Package] and aims to facilitate efficient freight and passenger traffic. The effect goals are, among other things, to:
- Create conditions for increased portion of public transport travel
- Improve accessibility for commercial traffic
- Improve pedestrian and bicycle offers, and increase the portion of transport cyclists
- Improve traffic safety
- Improve environment, improve noise conditions and minimise negative consequences in the local community
- Create conditions for increased sea freight transport
The traffic on Tanangervegen Rv. 509 south of Kontinentalvegen has AADT of approx. 14,800 (2019) with a 10% portion of heavy traffic.

Tenderers must have an HSE system that fulfils the requirements in the regulations on systematic health, environment, and safety work in entities (internal control regulations). The system will be subject to periodic reviews.
