The aim of the procurement is to develop and/or adapt a software system for support and documentation for sterile supplies. The procured documentation system must be able to be connected to the existing machinery for washing, disinfection and sterilisation processes, including lot/identity numbering of instruments and equipment in order to ensure optimum documentation in the instrument flow in Helse Vest.

User support for the equipment that will go through the washing process is important so that the purity degree can be ensured. Helse Vest currently has 200 washing decontaminators and approx. 50 autoclaves. New sterile centres are planned in several trusts, where automation, ERP, and a trade system for sterile supplies will be an important part of the systems. The need for automation will differ in the different trusts.

The sterile centres are split between several hospitals, with varying scopes. They are located innHelse Bergen, Helse Fonna, Helse Førde and Helse Stavanger. The goal is that the chosen system will give information on equipment across the regional health trusts, together with ERP store logistics and automised ordering routines.

Quality assurance of the sterile supply chain is important for patient safety. An instrument must be fully traceable from when it is delivered to the dirty store lift, decontaminated, delivered to the clean store lift, packed, sterilised, until it is sent to the sterile main store, so that the processes can be traced and contribute to prioritising when necessary, with integration with the different bounding systems that are used in Helse Vest.

A number of building projects connected to sterile supplies are ongoing and planned. The building projects will govern the schedule for the implementation of the trade system in the health trusts. There are clear dependencies between the building and the start-up of new ICT systems. The implementation date will also be affected by the available resources in the different health trusts and Helse Vest IKT AS.
