Kort beskrivelse
Nasjonalbiblioteket (the National Library of Norway) is one of the country's largest and most important cultural institutions, and is one of the foremost sources of knowledge about Norway and Norwegian conditions. Rooted in the Legal Deposit Act, we collect and preserve that which is published in Norway within all types of media, such as books, periodicals, newspapers, music, film, photo, broadcasting and on the internet. Nasjonalbiblioteket (the National Library) will contribute to increasing interest in knowledge, history and cultural heritage by disseminating the content of the collection to a broad, general public. Through events, publications, exhibitions and lectures that are made available and shared on-line, the National Library will be a leading cultural institution and cultural communicator in Norway. Together with the digital library, this dissemination will make the National Library a modern public information institution that aims to be one of Europe's most exciting and modern national libraries. We have 535 employees in Oslo and Mo i Rana, and a budget of NOK 680 000 000.
