The capacity at Wilds Minne school is exceeded and pupils in the vicinity must be rejected. There are currently 810 pupils, 426 at Lovisenlund, 382 at Wilds Minne. The schools have a calculated capacity of respectively 500 and 295 pupils.
Proposed measures in the municipal plan indicate increased development in central areas. It is important to have sufficient school capacity for this. Dimensioning of the new Wilds Minne School will be 500 pupils. A feasibility study has been prepared showing that the expansion is possible within the available area.

Proposed measures in the municipal plan indicate increased development in central areas. It is important to have sufficient school capacity for this. Dimensioning of the new Wilds Minne School will be 500 pupils. A feasibility study has been prepared showing that the expansion is possible within the available area.

The new school building will be constructed with at least 3 floors. Starthallen will be demolished and a new multi-purpose hall will be built on the site border with SIA. (The Student Welfare Association in Agder) This is dimensioned according to the Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs’ guidelines. The building will be erected so that the project can apply to receive awarded lottery funds. It is presumed that Starthallen will be demolished before construction starts, and that the existing school building mass will be demolished after the new building is completed. An assessment will be made as to whether it is possible to combine the school's areas with commercial property on the ground floor below the multi-purpose hall.

The project focus will be on environment, selection of environmental products, little use of packaging, short-journey products etc. The building will be constructed in KL wood and laminated wood, and it must fulfil 'NS-3701 Norwegian Passive House Standard for Occupational Buildings'. Or the new multi-purpose hall will be mostly made from wood, low-carbon concrete where necessary. Steel with large recirculation percent. The necessary area for the school is 5 630 m

Special themes that will be important in the project are, amongst other things, interface with neighbours, access, parking, and goods deliveries, determination of boundaries with the regulated road (will be one-way). The existing transformer in Starthallen, clay in parts of the site, a footpath through the school playground to the new square at Lund, surface water problems in the area, district heating lines, small barracks area, fossil-free construction site, noise reduction for the outside area, sound problems connected to the use of KL-wood (as much KL-wood as possible is to be visible), etc., must be taken into consideration.

There will be operation in the existing school buildings during the construction period, as well as in the school outdoor areas. The buildings will be demolished when the students and employees move into the new building, and new outdoor areas for the school are developed.

The project is a participant in the Scandinavian collaboration project Reconcile. This participation will give the project's consultants more competence in the use of KL-wood, sound problems with KL-wood and the use of as much exposed KL-wood as possible The Wilds Minne project's participants will be the consultant ARK, RIB and Ri acoustics.

The contracting authority is focused on optimising the quality in all phases of the project. The assignment will therefore not be executed as a traditional turnkey contract, but as a turnkey contract with collaboration in the engineering design phase and expanded cooperation obligations in the execution phase, see more about this in the contract terms in part II of the tender documentation.

The tenderer that wins the contest will first, together with the contracting authority and users, further develop the project. At the end to the preliminary project phase, an agreed contract sum must be in place for the execution phase. The execution phase will be an option for the contracting authority. How widely the option will be utilised, will be decided after the execution of the preliminary project. If the building is constructed, it will be based on the approved preliminary project and the accompanying contract sum.
