The new Drammen Hospital will be the local hospital for Lier, Drammen, Nedre Eiker, Røyken, Hurum, Sande and Svelvik, and it will have area functions for all of Vestre Viken. The new hospital is located at Brakerøya and it replaces Drammen and Bladstad Hospital. The site is 150 decares, and is located in the existing industrial area at Brakerøya as far as Drammenselva and near the railway station. Construction began in autumn 2019, and full clinical operation is scheduled for May 2025. Drammen Municipality will be the builder for the the development of public infrastructure.
