A new bridge will be built in replacement for bridge No 18-1729, Engeløy bridge, in Steigen kommune (Steigen Municipality). The current bridge is in such poor condition that it is planned to remove it from operation in 2024.

If it is possible to carry out a site inspection, without conflicting with local and national guidelines in relation to the management of infection protection (Covid-19), we will announce this at a later date.
The new bridge will be built alongside the existing bridge, and the existing bridge will be demolished.
In order to obtain a suitable landfill site for the dredging materials, the intention is to establish a Demning bar (surrounding breakwater) that will provide an area for disposal of the dredging materials and the concrete from the existing bridge. The area established with this solution will create an area that can be used for during the construction period. After the construction period ends Steigen Municipality will take over the area that will be used as an industrial area. The area is zoned for this activity.

The work is diverse and in short is as follows:
— dredging;
— extraction and production of masses;
— construction road of asphalt;
— railing works;
— bridge construction;
— demolition of the existing bridge;
— rigging and operation of the site.
Extraction and production of masses will take place in Bogen in private mass extraction that Nordland County has an agreement to join.
The area can also be used as a temporary landfill, and as a permanent landfill after mass is removed and the area is finished in relation to the construction plan.
