After the detection of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in the Hardanger wild reindeer area in September 2020, work is under way to implement a number of measures to prevent the spread of infection both inside and out of this area.
One of these measures is to fence in salting places in order to prevent cervids from using them and spreading infection.
The Norwegian Food Safety Authority is responsible for setting up enclosures around existing salting places and for supervising the enclosure systems and that requirements for new salting places are adhered to. In order for the Norwegian Food Safety Authority to carry out these assignments, there is a need for assistance for assembly and maintenance of enclosure systems.
