To cover all needs for scanning incisions, there is a need for both the acquisition of scanners that can be used for scanning ordinary incisions (volume scanners) and the acquisition of scanners that can be used for scanning special cross sections (special scanners). It may be relevant to enter into an agreement with several tenderers if the contracting authority finds this expedient. Due to the planned two-step introduction of digital pathology, it may be relevant to divide the procurement upon entering an option agreement.
The Hospital in Vestfold (Norwegian: SiV) uses Southern and Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority's (Norwegian: HSØ) regional laboratory information system from Software Point (LVMS). Sectra's system will be used for archiving and viewing images.
The department's annual production of microscope slides of normal size is approx.:
• histological cross sections (routine colour, immunohistochemistry and special colour): 80 000;
• cytological cross sections: 25 000.
In addition, cross sections with a different format are produced: large cross section (75 x 50 mm).
The departments have a dayshift rota system (7.30-16.00) We do not request diagnostics of highly prioritised samples to be significantly delayed when the microscope slides are scanned. Approx. 10 % of the department's tests are high-priority tests (CITO tests).

Up to 4 options on volume scanners and special scanners can be entered by other health trusts under Southern and Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority (Norwegian: Helse Sør-Øst RHF) within 3 years after signing the contract.
