AW101-612 SAR Queen can operate in temperature down to -40 ºC with fuel added FSII (Fuel System Icing Inhibitor). This fuel is currently basically only available at military airports and SAR bases for helicopters.
Commercial JET A-1 fuel available at Norwegian airports and helicopter landing grounds is fuel without added FSII. Due to current limitations, Sar Queen cannot operate with this fuel at an outdoor temperature below -10 ºC without adding FSII.
To be able to carry out assignments, it is necessary to be able to refill JET A-1 fuel, at available airports and landing grounds in the area of responsibility, even in the cold season.
The contracting authority wants to enter an agreement for the delivery of fuel, which can be used for SAR Queen operations at temperatures below -10 ºC, for each base with associated locations.
