The contract is for operational and maintenance assignments, with functional responsibility for some of the assignments, on national roads, and national foot and cycle paths, with the accompanying side installations, side areas, equipment and installations in Flakstad, Vestvågøy, Vågan, Hadsel Lødingen, Kvæfjord, Sortland, Tjeldsund, and Harstad Municipalities.
The contract period is from 1 September 2021 to 31 August 2026 for all of the described assignments.
The road network covered by the assignment, (including metered arms, ramps, junction parts, and side installation parts, but not calculated into the connection links or oncoming lanes) consists of:
389.963 km road in total, of which
252.145 km national roads in Nordland
91.505 km national roads in Troms og Finnmark
28.000 km national foot/cycle paths, Nordland
18.313 km national foot and cycle paths in Troms og Finnmark.

The parties can, if they agree, extend the contract so that it also applies for a period for a further 12, 24, or 36 months c.f. chapter C3, point 36.
The builder has an option to extend the contract for 12 months, from 1 September in the year the contract was agreed to expire, (i.e., either at the end of the original contract period, or at the end of the extended contract period, in accordance with the previous section), until 31 August in the following year.

18.313 km national foot and cycle paths in Troms og Finnmark
The traffic on the road network varies from approx. annual average daily traffic of 500 to approx. 18000 and an annual traffic growth of approx. 0.5 % is expected.
The assignment mainly consists of routine operational assignments and minor maintenance assignments on the road network. The assignment also consists of inspecting and registering, planning the activity, stand-by for winter operations and general traffic flow, documentation, reporting to the builder, information to the public and handling other assignments that are necessary for the operation and maintenance of the road network.
