Rental of a trawl vessel or combined purse seine and trawl vessel for Havforskningsinstituttet [the Institute of Marine Research] for quantity estimation of Barents Sea capelin during spawning in the Russian zone in Spring 2022.
Havforskningsinstituttet [the Institute of Marine Research] (the contracting authority) wants to rent one trawl vessel or combined purse seine/trawl vessel for fourteen days in order to test quantity measurement of Barents Sea spawning stock during spawning in spring 2022.
The goal is to get the best possible quantity measurements of the capelin spawn stock in the Barents Sea, in order to evaluate whether this can be included in advice.
The mission is mainly an acoustic trawl mission with acoustic measurements along pre-set course lines and pelagic trawling where there are registrations. In addition, there will be measurements with sonar, and acoustic measurements of the strength of the measurements can also be required with the tenderer's own equipment that is brought on board.
The starting and finishing harbour for the mission is Kirkenes.

Kort beskrivelse:
The Institute of Marine Research will carry out quantity measurement of Barents Sea capelin during spawning for 14 days within the period 20 February - 17 March. The mission starts and end in Kirkenes. Calling at Murmansk must be expected in order to take on board observers and all on board must have necessary permits to dock in Russia.

Basically, this is part of a coverage planned with three vessels. This procurement concerns the part of the coverage planned to take place in the Russian Economic Zone. Coverage is dependent on permission from Russian authorities. If the application for a permit is rejected, coverage will take place along the coast of Troms og Finnmark/southern Barents Sea. The quality requirements for the vessel sought here will not apply to the other two vessels that will participate in the mission, as the other two will be decided according to separate announcement notices.

A separate research quota of 50 tonne has been set aside for sampling, 16 tonne per vessel.
Subject to the necessary economic grants being given to the contracting authority, the mission duration will be 14 days, but with the right to extend for up to three days.
For preparation of equipment and calibration, the vessels must be at Kirkenes for up to one day right before the mission period starts according to further agreement with the contracting authority. This time must be calculated into the day rate for the mission. The vessel must be equipped with its own trawls and trawl doors for sampling pelagic fish.

The mission must be carried out as a as a trawl acoustic survey with fixed course lines in the Barents Sea capelin spawning grounds from the Russian border in the west and east-over to approx. 45 degrees east. Acoustic registrations will be trawled for taking samples of fish. In addition, CTD hydrographical stations will be carried out at regular intervals in the survey area.
