The core functionality of the system is to cover the need for a pay desk, booking and ticket service system, including automatic processes for day settlements, balancing, handling deviations, and updating accounts. It is a prerequisite that the system is fully integrated with Bergen Municipality's finance system — UBW økonomi. Cash turnover is a risk area that requires good routines for internal control and the accounting act has strict documentation requirements. Integration and automation will contribute to better control of income and will save time in several links.

Bergen Municipality has a general aim that processes are to be digitalised to the greatest possible degree, there must be a greater degree of self-service and the use of as many joint systems as possible in order to avoid duplication of functionality in several systems. Therefore there is a need for a cloud system with a focus on user friendliness and self-service options for pay desk, booking and ticket services for activities in the municipality. In accordance with developments in today's society, and self-service expectations from inhabitants, there is a need for the system to be able to handle all types of payment forms in the current technology, such as payment by card, mobile and top-up card/gift card.

Pupils in secondary schools pay for their lunch with a top-up card that is connected to the current pay desk system. The contracting authority would like a joint system that includes top-up cards with options for digital top-up. The top-up cards will not be restricted to just school canteens.
