The aim of the assignment is to obtain knowledge in order to develop a baseline situation description of criminality development in Norway. There is a need for increased knowledge on how exposed the population is for different main groups of crime. We will get a more realistic picture of the scope of criminality by seeing statistics on the criminal proceedings chain in connection with self-reported experienced criminality in the population. This will be important information for the population in general, and for policy development in the field in particular.
The project description will propose a set-up in order to develop and implement a representative national security survey in the population, as well as analyse the results in the light of relevant research and other surveys.
