NAV is constantly receiving requests from employers who want to employ chefs and waiters/waitresses with certificates of apprenticeships. The training office for culinary subjects also receives feedback from the business that there is a significant requirement for employees in the restaurant and food industry. NAV has few chefs and waiters/waitresses in their register of employment. However, many men and women want to work for these professions. It is especially among foreign language job seekers that we register these job requests.
NAV shall enter into a contract for a course comprising:
Sixth form college level 1 (Norwegian Abbreviation: VG1) restaurant and food industry.
Sixth form college level 2 for education of waiters/waitresses (Norwegian Abbreviation: VG2) and/or VG2 for the meat and the food industry subjects
Common subjects. All conditions are in accordance with the national curricula.
The course must also include Norwegian language education

Kort beskrivelse:
Participants must pass the theoretical part of the trade examination for the chef and waiter/waitresses or the meat and food industry subjects. After they have passed the theoretical part of the course, the participants can start an apprenticeship scheme or be able to work without a trade certificate until the practical requirements are met.

We expect that 75 % of the participants enter directly apprenticeship contracts or achieve regular employment expected after the course is completed.
The target group is unemployed job seekers who are older than the age of 19 with interests/motivation to work as a chef, waiter/waitress or in the food industry. The applicant must have a clarified need for qualification. The relevant applicants must have used their Norwegian rights to 3 years of sixth form college education.

Foreign language applicants must as a minimum comply with level A2c in accordance with the common European framework for languages or equivalent documentation on proficiency in the Norwegian language. A language test must have been passed. Applicants will go through an interview with a representative from NAV where their oral language proficiency level is tested.
