Statistics Norway (Norwegian abbreviation: SSB) has outgrown the existing 3PAR 7400 storage solution and exceeded the capacity for our existing vSAN cluster. We now want to continue the expansion in a hyper-converged operating environment and at the same time phase-out our current solutions. See Annex 3 for a description of our current environment. We request tenders for payment plans that gives us the possibility to divide the payment over several years.

It is emphasised that the system must be cost saving in relation to the administration costs. This means e.g. that the patching of infrastructure and administration of virtual servers can be automatic and executed during normal business hours.

The solution must also be redundant in regard to failures in computer rooms and include maintenance service.

The solution must keep a log of incidents for an external log keeping services. The solution must also alert of future capacity and performance requirements before the resource is emptied.

All costs related to the solution must be stated in the tender. This includes i.a. licences and potential network requirements such as a considerable requirement for ports (etc.). The list is not exhaustive.

We have a simple VM, a Linux file server that contains approx. 400TB data. We are interested in an alternative solution for this server and we find that running this in a hyper-converged environment can potentially enhance the price of an HCI solution.
