The General Practitioner Register contains an overview of all GPs and their list inhabitants since the commencement of the GP scheme in 2001.
It is time-demanding for doctors to look-up patients’ GPs and their contact information when sending electronic messages or to communicate through other channels with these. The patient's GP can be found in the General Practitioner Register and the GP's contact information can be obtained from the Address Register.

Old local registers of GPs have been difficult to maintain and contain many errors. This has resulted in many years of sending many epicrisis being sent to the wrong recipient.
‘The GP Button’ will ensure that epicrisis go to the correct GP and thereby ensure better medical follow-up and good personal protection.
The purpose of the project is to develop an enquiry service in the electronic patient journal that finds the patient's current general practitioner and associated contact information. The enquiry form will be an implementation based on combined service from the General Practitioner Register and the Address Register. The project will order the functionality from the Electronic Patient Journal suppliers and ensure that the service is used in an efficient manner.
