The Railway Directorate needs to develop a knowledge base for trends and impetus that can affect the future railway in a long-term perspective — until 2050. Trends and impetus must be monitored systematic and continuously and presented in reports and digital tools.
The Railway Directorate will use this knowledge in work with the national transport plan, strategies, concept selection studies and major investigations. see Annex 1 for further information.

The Railway Directorate will use this knowledge in work with the National Transport Plan, strategies, concept selection studies and major investigations.
The assignment consists of the following:
• changes in attitude that affect the demand for transport;
• mega trends and trends that are or will become relevant for the demand for transport;
• methods for reveal ‘black swans’ by showing an early warning system;
• demonstrate how delivery together with socio-economic analyses can indicate variation in demand for transport;
• develop an open method to determine when a particular scenario of trends/mega trends occurs.
Common for all deliveries is the requirement to use big data with machine learning methods to perform analyses.
